Waning Popularity

Maybe I should go back to soundbytes. You know, that style of writing with short snippets and commentary on things such as Big Foot in India, or my growing obsession with Paula Deen and her non-ashamedly no-good-for-you-but-oh-so-tasty recipes (this, for example), or the funny thing that happened to me involving a tiny megaphone and a wrong turn on the way home from nannying yesterday.

Wedding, wedding, wedding - I know. It's almost here. In fact, tomorrow is a month to the date. Can you believe it? I'm anxious - just ready to get the ball rolling, celebrate the day with our family and friends, and put all of this planning schmanning behind us. I'm ready to have normal hobbies again, sans the currently dominating one of checking and re-checking my wedding portfolio a thousand times to see what I can do today (or tomorrow, or the next).

I'm ready to have the mind to care again about things outside myself like Africa, investing what time I can have in students I work with (which will now include Belmont SIFE students, as I have recently agreed to kind of take-over a version of Cliff's old job there as my practicum, on top of my assistantship), or things besides what font I'm going to use for the wedding programs (by the way, anyone want to help fold and decorate them with ribbon as time draws closer?) I mean sure, even marriage is going to be a new thing to care about - like how Cliff likes his eggs best (I think scrambled with cheese), how we'll learn new ways to communicate and to grow with each other spiritually, and how we'll set up our new home.

This weekend was another nice break, though - taking Zach and Jody with us to the lake. They were so much fun! I love that place and sometimes I love it even more when we get to introduce it to other people. And I love that we can do absolutely nothing and everything, depending on the mood. My sister's coming in to visit for a little more than a week on the 29th and starting that day, we're taking her to the lake for the weekend.

Cliff's birthday is today and I've got a few things up my sleeves for tonight and tomorrow night. In case he happens upon here, I can't divulge my secrets just yet. I hope it will be good though - his last unwed birthday. My birthday was fantastic on account of him (and several others) and so I feel I owe it to him especially. We'll see if I live up to it!

And blah, blah, blah, right? I set out to write something short and there it is again, life-vomit. Haha. Words just seem so much more graphic when you attach the word vomit to them.

Talk soon!
