Ah...

We're so behind on things, I can hardly remember what I posted last (I guess I could just look, right?) Last week seems like forever ago. I guess, personally, I was in a sort of haze through most of the week with Max and fall break and not much going on at work and being out of class all week.

Cliff finished out the week well with his spirit outfits, which included K-Fed for celebrity day, a CA wildfire for headliner day (I promise it wasn't as insensitive as it sounds), and a frumpy NY tourist for New York, New York day. They announced the daily winners yesterday at Devo's and, unfortunately, Cliff did not take home any big wins. He did, however, get a certificate for honorable mention for dressing up everyday (he was one of only a handful) and a Starbucks gift card, which he promptly used for our Halloween dinner and coffee date with Matty B.

This last weekend was our three-month getaway weekend, which was almost ruined by a strange bout of stomach pains on Friday that sent me home early from work. But alas, health prevailed and we spent a night, morning, and afternoon at the cabin at the lake, went up to Knoxville for the Tennessee-South Carolina game, and spent some time out at Brad and Wendy's farm.

The point of these weekends is to celebrate, to reflect, and to plan. Cliff and I spent a lot of time talking about the last three months and the things we've learned. We dreamed up some goals for the next three months and some things we hope to accomplish by January for our six month trip. We've each listened to this CD series by Ransomed Heart a couple of times on our own, but made it a point to listen to it together on the way down and the way back and talked about some of the ideas presented.

It's just nice to set aside time like that, even on top of the growth, talking, and reflecting that's been taking place from day to day. Carving out a whole weekend to do that, and having the capacity to get away, is something we feel will be especially important in the future.

The weekend started off this week well, and I'm managing to stay on top of schoolwork while Cliff keeps things afloat at work. Men's group was great for the guys on Monday - they kicked me out and I managed to get some work done at Starbucks, because Women's group was cancelled due to some unwell ladies. We hit our tenth week in Financial Peace University last night, and this weekend we are watching the Benton crazies out at the farm while Brad and Wendy go to a marriage retreat.

I'm just glad it's finally Thursday. I get my reading presentation done tonight, and then tomorrow - well, I'm sure I'll do a bit of work, work on my reading log, and then we're off again.

p.s. I have a new appreciation for cows, because of my husband. He taught me how to call and feed them, which led to a couple of friendly licks from a cow that was not behind a fence but right next to me. Also, I named a curious and brave little cow, that approached us when all the others ran away, Butterscotch. We also happened to see a baby calf that had been born within the hour of us entering that pasture. I took pictures of the baby (and the mother with the placenta dragging out from behind her) and it was just the cutest thing ever (the baby, not the placenta). ....mooooo.
