was awesome. Just plain awesome. I don't think I realized just how excited I was to have a weekend free of class and work until Friday at about noon when I was eating free lunch from Food Company with some of my fellow GA-mates who were preparing for class that night and I realized that I wasn't and that also didn't have a Student Campus Events activity that evening.
Lampo's big ice-center night was awesome. Laser-tag (I'm awful, but Cliff was great), food, watching a bunch of the guys play a pretty intense came of hockey, and ice-skating (Cliff's first time) was really quite enjoyable. In the midst of tons of Cliff's co-workers and their families, I think we both were reminded what a blessing his job has been for us... for our marriage. There's nothing like sitting in a room full of people watching their boss (I mean, the boss when it comes to Lampo) who just happens to have a radio show, has written a number of books, and is now going to have a primetime FBN show play hockey like one of the guys because he really is "just one of the guys." Cliff had a chance to introduce me to him, too, later in the evening which was pretty cool.
Anyways, Saturday was even better. We woke up late, made waffles on our cool WaringPro belgian waffle maker (I burnt the first one and Cliff decided he though we should lacquer it and hang it on the wall), threw on some clothes and went down to the Factory for the Franklin Farmer's Market. There really is nothing like buying fresh, farm-grown produce while walking around listening to live bluegrass drinking a pint of fresh milk (mmm, chocolate) from a dairy farm. The rest of the day, we cleaned the apartment, watched college football, worked on our menuboard for the kitchen, and organize (YIPEEE!) our desk finally. Later, we got all dolled up and had a... to.die.for... dinner at Bonefish (crab cakes for an appetizer, fresh bread, a glass of riesling, pan Asian sea scallops and gulf shrimp with whipped garlic potatoes and a lobster tail for me and a glass of pinot grigio, lemon butter Icelandic charr with whipped garlic potatoes and a lobster tail for Cliff... and oh, did I mention the creme brulee we had for dessert). YUM. With our bellies full, we headed over to the Carmike for a showing of "Bourne Ultimatum" which we both loved. I really am a fan of the Bourne movies (they give Matt Damon some credibility).
Sunday, Sunday (I always get sad on Sundays because Mondays are just around the corner) - Sunday school, some errand-running, grocery shopping, football and reading for class, and breakfast for dinner!
And now it's Monday. But it started off well with us driving over to Pinkerton Park for a morning run/walk...
Sometimes I think married life sounds so incredibly boring from the outside, but I've got to admit - it's wonderful. And I think we're both really thankful that there's room for us (within our marriage) to treat like this any other adventure, where you treasure any new discovery and challenge because it means you're learning and living and doing your best to love.
Ah, okay - that's all for now.
