Six Years Ago, Today

A 423 number flashed on the screen of my phone, and I got an invitation to dinner (or rather, dessert) that would alter course of the rest of my life.  And I guess, his too.

We still can't be sure whether it was the conversation, the combination of peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a raspberry brownie, or the night we spent laughing at bad movies about large sea creatures and playing video games... but it was a beginning we'll never forget.

Six Years Ago, Two Days Late

It didn't hit me until yesterday.

And then I scrambled this morning to track down the version I drew up a couple of years ago (two years, to be exact) of what it is about the start of November that I love so much. And then about the middle... and then a couple of days after that, but we'll get to that later.

The funny thing about this year is that it's that passing of time (six years) that allows for dates to fall on days just as they were back then. It was a Monday night. And then a Wednesday morning. And then a Friday night. And I remember it all so clearly and yet not.

It's hard to believe that I've spent almost 23% of my life with this guy:

as of this month. Next year, it'll be more than a quarter.

I wake up everyday next to the best man I know - who six years and three days ago was a complete and total stranger to me.  If there's any reason I don't believe in chance or sheer luck, it's that right there.
