And sometimes they come in the form of a deer panicking and running into your braking car, you know, instead of away from it.

Happened at dusk on Friday, on my way home from a long week at work, and dagnabit, I was barely more than a mile from home. And this was my first major accident, ever. So, forseeably, I was pretty shaken up.

I'm thankful that stuff like this, as scary and unexpected as it is, is just bridge under the water in the life we live. Cliff was so calm and collected on the phone. All he kept reminding me as my thinking was broken by heaving sobs, was that I was okay. We'd be okay. Maybe, and unfortunately, I killed a deer and the car is wrecked, but I am okay. Just knowing we have insurance and an emergency fund and a car at home to share until I can get a rental made things a little bit better.
A kind stranger stood and sat with me for at least forty-five minutes before Cliff was able to get to me. And even the Williamson County Sheriffs that came by to do a police report were out-of-this world incredible.
Needless to say, I don't think the shock wore off until sometime the next morning.
I'm just grateful things turned out the way they did and not worse.

Goodness, I cannot imagine. Scary indeed. Glad that you are ok. I cannot believe that the dear ran into you. That would be crazy. - Ashley
