Sleeping late, having lunch with Cliff at work, drinking a cup of Dunkin' Donuts coffee, finishing a book, having nothing to do with politics and the news, and taking my sweet time cooking a wonderfully comforting dinner. Yesterday was my Sabbath, that's for sure. The icing on the cake was when Cliff came home from work with a package of Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Lovers cookie dough and a bouquet of lovely gold and red chrysanthemums to welcome me "back home."
And I had that sense that the last few weeks, while good, had really thrown life off-balance for us. But we manage and we talk and we laugh through it all. And I love that last night, after eating dinner, we spent the night watching episodes of "Family Guy" online and laughing our butts off. And then we found YouTube videos about Navy Seals BUDS Training and wet our pants for Aaron who has begun his first week out in Coronado. My last couple of days didn't seem so bad compared to 96 hours of sleep deprivation, cold MREs, and "surfing."
Now, our sights are set on getting ready to head out tomorrow for a visit with the family in Maryland. We haven't been there since February for Grandpa's induction, so it will be good to go and hang out, see who we can see!
