Our Semi-Anniversary

Or "semiversary", as we like to call it. And it's MLK, Jr. Day. Unfortunately, Lampo and Vanderbilt aren't off for the day (but Belmont is), so we didn't get to celebrate with a day off. We did start our celebration of six months of marital bliss with a great workout at the gym and a bowl of fresh blueberry oatmeal! But alas, our evening is filled with my dance class (I'll let you guess which one I'm in) and Cliff's meeting with the men's group, but maybe we'll squeeze in a small celebration or something later this week.

I would say maybe tomorrow, but we're starting our FPU class, so we're all booked up! As you know, we took the 13-week course last fall as part of a requirement for all Lampo employees. After talking with some friends of ours, we decided it'd be a neat idea to facilitate a class for any couples in our Sunday school group who'd be interested in taking it. Lo and behold, we've got seven couples signed up to start spending their next thirteen Tuesday nights with us and Dave on DVD! Our friends Heather and Brian (who works at Lampo, too), are teaching a class at their church starting the same night, so we're looking forward to swapping stories. They're long-time veterans, though, so we're going to work on taking some pointers. Hopefully it'll be a great experience for all of us!

In other news, not much else is going on with the two of us. It feels like everyone we know is having babies, getting new jobs, buying houses, or all of those other milestones that married couples hit. We're just charting our own course, I guess, and I like that that means all of those things I mentioned above are in the works, just not right now. It's been and will continue to be a journey, and living in a one-bedroom apartment, having one of us working and the other one semi-working while in grad school, and delaying gratification is just building both our patience and endurance.

So far we've got six months of winning in our finances, learning how to communicate better, making new married friends, committing to carving out time for each other, and dreaming and setting goals for our future. I know it's not a lot in the grand scheme of things and we don't have a lot to show for it, but man, am I proud.

Girl! I am not having a baby, buying a house, or getting a new job right now (Bdub either!!!) Y'all are doing awesome. I think you are the cutest couple and you don't need to rush a thing! But, thats just my 2cents. :)

I think you have a ton to show... the most important being the love of Christ that shines ever so brightly through the two of you! We are so blessed to know you, and thanks for doing FPU for all us!
(I'm glad you have a blog too! Now I can better keep up with you guys and your crazy busy life! =)

Am I the only one who wants to know what dance class you are taking? Or should it have been an easy guess?
Beginner Irish perhaps?
