Justice for Eric

It's been awhile since any developments have taken place in the case of Eric Volz in Nicaragua. Short-lived hope was felt earlier this week when, on Monday, the appellate court overturned his previous 30-year sentence and declared him a free man, citing that there just was no evidence showing that he could have been in the vicinity of the location where Doris was murdered.

Unfortunately, in due time the injustice and corruption of the judicial system was seen again when the previous judge came up with a multitude of excuses as to why she would not sign his release papers, including a flat tire, incorrect page numbering, and mis-stapled pages. It is now Friday, and he is still in prison. Over the course of the week, the former prosecutor has now moved to take the case to the Nicaraguan supreme court which sometimes takes years to hear a case. According to the Nicaraguan law, they can not continue holding him there under the pretenses of a Supreme Court case and are defying their own legal system.

Today, our country and their country's leaders will leave to celebrate the Holidays and it will be before mid-January that anything is done to help Eric. He has been very sick and in the hospital for kidney stones, intestinal issues, and his asthma over the last month and a half. On the update page of Eric's site, his family has listed a number of ways to take action TODAY because time is running out. Maggie is in Nicaragua pushing for his immediate release.

Eric's mother and stepdad are two people we care very deeply for and who have been like family to us. Please do what you can to help bring Eric home, and to give his family the long-awaited victory they have been fighting for... freedom.

Sweety,

I had wondered when this aired here in Va beach if you knew of the story because they are from Nashville...I had no idea that you KNEW the family personally!

It was odd (but you know God...he moves in ways we can not know) that when I saw the short piece on this story I felt "something"...not sure what...so I prayed.

I just got done sending his family an email.

I love you both and can't wait to see you soon! Merry Christmas!!!!
